Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) has issued a strong warning to 2025 UTME candidates and parents about fraudulent admission offers being circulated online, especially targeting those who scored 150 and above.
What Happened?
According to a statement released by the university's Registrar, Dr. Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, some unidentified individuals have been advertising fake admission opportunities into the College of Management Sciences (COLMAS) of the university. These posts, primarily shared on social media platforms, claim to offer candidates with 150+ JAMB scores admission into various undergraduate programmes.
📢 Important: MOUAU has not announced any official cut-off marks for 2025 admissions. Both JAMB and the university's admission board are yet to finalize admission thresholds.
What MOUAU Is Saying
The university has disowned all such advertisements, urging admission seekers and parents not to fall victim to the scam. Instead, they should refer to only the official university website for verified information.
Dr. Mbanasor emphasized that no individual or third party has the authority to offer admission on behalf of MOUAU.
Fully Accredited Programmes Now Listed by JAMB
Despite the warning, the university shared a bit of good news: all undergraduate programmes under COLMAS, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, Marketing, and Business Administration, have received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC). These programmes are also now officially listed on the JAMB portal, clearing any doubts about their legitimacy or recognition.
Why This Matters
Many candidates and parents are often eager to secure admission quickly, especially after receiving UTME scores. This makes them vulnerable to fake agents who exploit the situation. Falling for such scams can lead to:
- Financial loss
- Missed genuine admission opportunities
- Delay in academic progress
What You Should Do Next
If you're a 2025 UTME candidate or a parent:
- ✅ Verify all admission info on MOUAU's official website
- ❌ Do not engage with individuals or adverts on social media claiming to offer admission
- 📌 Stay updated via the JAMB CAPS portal and only act on information from recognised channels
- 🛡️ Report any suspicious activity to the university or education authorities
MOUAU's proactive announcement helps protect innocent students and families from exploitation. As the 2025 admission process unfolds, staying alert and informed is key to avoiding fraud and making the right academic decisions.
